Herbie Hancock Kennedy Center Honors with Dave Holland, James Genus and Marcus Miller
It’s incredible to think about how much music Herbie Hancock has made. He was honored this past year at the Kennedy Center, and the diversity of styles is astounding.
In this video, a cast of some of the world’s finest musicians play through songs that define Hancock’s career, and that includes some heavy hitting bassists. Dave Holland roots the band for “Walkin,’” followed by James Genus laying a thick groove on “Watermelon Man.” Marcus Miller rounds the night out on “Cantaloupe Island,” “Rockit,” and “Chameleon.”
Other musicians include Terence Blanchard, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Jack DeJohnette, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks, Terri Lyne Carrington, Snoop Dogg, Mix Master Mike and more.
In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more.
