Carvin Launches Xccelerator Series with X54 5-String Bass

Carvin unveiled the Xccelerator Series of basses at NAMM this year with its introductory model, the X54 5-string bass. The X54 sports several new features for the company including a fast-playing, thinner maple neck that’s reinforced with graphite. Its body also has a new shape with deeply sculpted cutaways for better access to the higher registers.

The bass is built with neck through construction with an alder body, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard. It’s loaded with a P/J pickup configuration that has a split coil pickup in the neck and a radius top alnico humbucker in the bridge position. Electronics include an 18-volt active passive preamp with a 2-band EQ as well as a master volume control, a pickup blend, and a push/pull active and passive tone control. For hardware, Carvin fits the X54 with a Hipshot A-style with 19mm string spacing and Carvin 20:1 ratio premium tuners.

The Carvin Xccelerator X54 Bass is available now with a direct price of $1,169. Four and 6-string versions will be shipping in the coming months.

  1. The 90’s are calling and they want their bass back (haha I’m half joking)

  2. They should use a 35″ scale length.

  3. I’m actually the first owner of the Carvin X54 bass, and love the new design and tone. I’m not a metal or hard-rocker player, and this bass still works for me. In fact, I’ve owned over 25 basses, and this one NAILS it!
