Victor Wooten, Regi Wooten & Steve Smith: Studio Jam

This video was filmed over three years ago I believe, but somehow I’ve missed it all this time.

Victor Wooten with his brother, guitarist Regi Wooten, and drummer Steve Smith decided to jam in the studio. The result was the trio’s unique version Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon”.

Corey Brown is the founder of No Treble and serves in an advisory role. He’s also Head of Editorial at Muse Group. Learn more about Corey on his website and LinkedIn.

  1. Is it just me or does vic have the Chameleon groove round the wrong way… I thought it was b7 octave then 5th b7…??

  2. That drummer is not Steve Smith.

  3. Yep it’s stange, 1sts guitar chors are kind of out as well. But after 20sec it’s so awsome anyway

  4. Call it what you will … That groove is pure nasty funk with a great feel.

  5. That was funking, jazzy, and wicked soloing I’ve heard in a long time. Thanks for sharing this with us. You guys rock.
