Reader Spotlight: Steen Kevett

Steen KevettMeet Steen Kevett, a bassist from California who obviously loves life, music and bass (and No Treble, which makes us happy). His superpower is one that’ll make all old school players smile. Steen is No Treble’s reader in the spotlight for the week of March 10, 2014.

Bio

My name is Steen Kevett, Steen as in Spring”steen”. I am a bassist with big dreams of becoming a session player, or even a writer. I currently study music at Norco College and am enrolled in the recording and performance program offered there. Outside of school, I play in a few bands ranging from Country to Pop to Hard Rock. I love playing with all types of musicians to create different noises for others to enjoy. I also love No Treble! Its the best bass news publisher on the web!

Why I play the bass

The sounds of bass! Bass has always stood out to me.

My bass superpower/claim to fame

I like to consider myself a pocket rock bass player. Color when needed, but hold down the fort always!

My influences

At the current moment, I’ve been jiving a lot on Stevie Wonder. Other artists that will always have my heart are Muse, Radiohead and Mutemath just to name a few. I love all sorts of music and am normally drawn to great bass lines. I love classic pop icons like the Temptations and even some new progressive stuff like Thundercat.
