Marco Mendoza Leaves Black Star Riders

Black Star Riders

The Black Star Riders have announced that founding bassist Marco Mendoza will be leaving the fold after their current U.S. tour wraps up on June 22nd. Mendoza, who also plays in Thin Lizzy, cites other projects and schedule conflicts as the reason for his departure. The group has already named former RATT and Lynch Mob bassist Robbie Crane as its new bassist.

“I loved my time in Black Star Riders and want to thank all the fans for making the last year on road so successful,” Mendoza stated. “I am sorry to be leaving the band but I feel it’s time for me to pursue other avenues, some of which I have already been working with, all of which I am very excited about. I wish the guys all success in the future and I am very happy that my friend Robbie Crane will continue to blaze with BSR.”

The Black Star Riders will be returning to the studio to make the followup record to 2013’s All Hell Breaks Loose. The as yet untitled album is due to be released in February 2015 with European and U.S. tours to support it.
