Bastille’s Third “Mixtape” Features Collaborative Originals

Bastille: VS. (Other People’s Heartache Pt. III)Indie band Bastille has reappeared with a new mixtape, with a title reminiscent of its first two. This time out, the “tape” — actually a CD — is VS. (Other People’s Heartache Pt. III).

However, the album marks the fist time the “mixtape” has featured exclusively original content, rather than a combination of originals and cover versions of songs. The album does feature extensive collaboration with other artists, like Haim, Angel Haze and Skunk Anansie.

Smith says, “I love having the side lane of our mixtapes as a place where we can make music people might not expect.”

Check out Bastille and Haim on “Bite Down”:

The British group, originally conceived as a solo project by leader Dan Smith, morphed into a band featuring bassist Will Farquarson. Formed in 2010, the group began its recording career with the two previous mixtape projects and released its first full original album, Bad Blood, in 2013.

VS. (Other People’s Heartache Pt. III) is available on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
