Coal Chamber’s “Rivals” Lineup Features Nadja Peulen

Coal Chamber: RivalsCoal Chamber’s first album since 2002 has arrived.

Rivals is the first album to feature the band’s onetime touring bassist Nadja Peulen. She said for the record, she and several other band members started putting tracks together by working together by jamming on and fine-tuning riffs before heading into pre-production.

This is what the ultimately ended up with an album that kicks off with “I.O.U. Nothing”:

You can also check out Peulen’s story here in an interview with IndiePowerTV. (Some NSFW words and fair warning — the camera work is kind of shaky.)

Rivals is available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

Who listens to this….and why….I really need to understand why this angry music appeals to people….

Angry music allows that emotion to flow out of you instead of festering. It is a release for the downtrodden and unappreciated, and is much healthier an outlet for rage and hatred than any other release you will find. My wife and i listen to music like this (not Coal Chamber necessarily, although i did like their first album), and both my sons enjoy it as well.

      That’s just me though…

I often think the same of The Cheeky Girls and Las Ketchup, but each to their own, I guess.
I’m a fan of all sorts of music, although Coal Chamber are probably the main reason I got into music, and later bass guitar, in the first place. Live and let live. :)
