Bass of the Week: Kristall Basses Home

This week we’re checking out the Kristall Basses Home, a bass the German company says makes you feel like coming home at first contact. Kristall writes that each bass is made to order, but they start with “tonewoods, hardware, pickups and electronics [that] are basically ‘traditional’ and [give] direct access to proven sounds and more.”

The Home’s solid double-cut body is made with a choice of alder, swamp ash, or mahogany. Its neck is a single piece of flat-sawn Canadian hard maple topped with a pao ferro, rosewood, or maple fingerboard that holds 21 or 24 frets.

The bass is fitted with a pair of Nordstrand Big Singles and passive electronics with a Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. While Kristall can give the bass a sleek look with exotic wood tops, they can also make the bass in a retro fashion with vintage hardware and a pickguard.
