Jazz Bass Great Buster Williams Releases as Member of New Group, Heads of State

Heads of State: Search for PeaceJazz bassist extraordinaire Buster Williams has joined with fellow jazz greats Gary Bartz, Larry Willis and Al Foster in the new group, Heads of State, which has released its first album, Search for Peace.

While the band’s members have played in combination with each other in different configurations over the years, the quartet didn’t coalesce until they took the stage as part of a 2014 concert honoring McCoy Tyner, who wrote the classic song “Search for Peace.”

The record features mostly covers and standards, with a couple of originals contributed by Bartz.
