If you haven’t seen the James Brown documentary Mr. Dynamite yet, you’re missing out. It follows the iconic soul singer’s rise to the top of charts with incredible interview segments with his musicians.

Of course, one of the film’s highlights is the introduction of Bootsy Collins into Brown’s band. Collins offers deep insight into his relationship with Brown as well as perspective to their work together. One of the clips is from this memorable performance in Paris at the Olympia in 1971. Collins digs in on the “one” to drive the band’s energy. Brown also calls the bassist out for a solo at the 12:40 mark.

For reference, Bootsy was 19 at the time.
