Willcox Introduces Saber SL HexFX Edition Basses

Willcox is now shipping a new version of their Saber SL bass called the HexFX Edition. The new model has a 13-pin DIN connector that allows for individual string outputs in addition to the Lightwave Optical Pickup System.

Willcox Saber SL HexFX Edition Bass

“The HexFX Editions bring the individual string outputs, along with a summed mono output, to a 13-pin DIN connector,” Willcox writes. “The resulting output enables full synth access, individual string processing and modeling, and the use of a fanout box. The possibilities are limitless, and the optical pickup technology provides ultra-fast and accurate tracking, glitch-free and with no latency or false triggering.”

They add that the 13-pin output follows the Roland GK Protocol and is compatible with all of the Roland GK and Virtual Guitar modeling services. Controls for the HexFX Edition include a MIDI Volume control, a Momentary Up/Down Program Selector Switch (S1/S2), and an Output Selector Switch (Mono/Individual String/Both).

The Saber SL HexFX Edition retains the rest of the lineups features, including a solid alder body, a maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. It’s available with a choice of four or five strings and fretted or fretless models. Prices range from $2,029 to $2,218, depending on options.
