Jeff Genzler Launches New Company, New Bass Cabinets

Genzler Bass Array 12-3

Jeff Genzler, founder and former head of Genz-Benz, has launched a new company called Genzler Amplification. The bass industry veteran first offerings from the venture include a trio of bass cabinets: The Bass Array 12-3, the Magellan 112T, and the Magellan 212T.

“My wife Catherine and I, and our dedicated team, built [Genz-Benz] and delivered exceptional products and support, worked closely with inspiring and talented people, and earned a global reputation for innovative designs and superior quality,” Genzler wrote during a Reddit AMA. “Now we’re returning to our roots. I’m building smart, pure, innovative bass amps and cabinets. We’re proud to have our longtime engineer, Scott Andres, as an important part of our team. We have strong relationships with trusted craftspeople, suppliers, and retailers around the world. Catherine and I now live in Brooklyn, close to family. We’re becoming part of our community, giving a percentage of each product sold to local music initiatives.”

The Bass 12-3 cabinet blends a 12-inch vented bass reflex design with a 4×3-inch neodymium driver line array element in a compact format. Rated at 350 watts, the cab’s set of drivers offer a seamless response and full-range bandwidth. “Additionally the placement of the Line Array in front of the 12” woofer further provides a type of “single point source” projection—-think of it as concentric speakers, one inside of the other, in the same linear plane,” they write. “Also due to line array principals the all-important mid and high frequencies have a much wider horizontal dispersion with a more controlled vertical pattern.” It weighs in at just 34 pounds.

Fans of Genzler’s previous designs will take notice to the Magellan Series. Available in 1×12 and 2×12 configurations, the light-weight designs are built with 12mm and 15mm Baltic Birch plywood and wrapped in heavy-duty black textured vinyl with woven wire, silver, and black grille cloths. Each is fitted with Faital neodymium 12-inch cast frame loudspeakers and a proprietary 1-inch bullet tweeter with Ferro Fluid infusion in the voice coil gap for a higher power rating and smoother high frequency response. The 112T is rated at 350 watts and weighs 30 pounds, while the 212T offers 700 watts at 54 pounds.

The Genzler Amplification Bass Array 12-3, Magellan 112T, and Magellan 212T will be available soon with prices of $879, $729, and $1,099, respectively. The first 50 Bass Array 12-3 units will be a Commemorative Limited Edition. They will be signed and numbered by Jeff Genzler with a personalized Certificate of Authenticity to the purchaser.

Jeff I have a Streamliner 900 in for repair, the so called company that reping the line now is dismal to work with, they won’t even sell me a volume control. Is there any way to obtain a schemo for this unit?

what actually happened with Genz Benz? I feel like it occurred when I was on a forum hiatus, I came back and suddenly everything was cheap and they were no longer around.
