Phil Lesh Diagnosed with Cancer

Phil Lesh

Bass legend and Grateful Dead member Phil Lesh has revealed that he is battling bladder cancer. He made the announcement on the Terrapin Crossroads Facebook page while explaining canceled performances later this month.

“I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in early October, and have spent the last few weeks at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale doing tests and eventually surgery to remove the tumors,” Lesh wrote. “I am very fortunate to have the pathology reports show that the tumors are all non aggressive, and that there is no indication that they have spread.”

Lesh says he should be able to return to normal activities two weeks after surgery. The Phil Lesh and Friends concerts scheduled for October 24th and 25th will be rescheduled after his recovery.

We’re wishing a speedy recovery to Phil Lesh!
