Bass of the Week: PRS Guitars Private Stock Hollowbody Bass 4

PRS Guitars began their Private Stock series 20 years ago, and to celebrate they’ve brought back their guitar of the month showcase. They kicked it off with a jaw-dropping Private Stock Hollowbody Bass 4, which is our bass of the week.
The short scale bass features a solid center block with hollow body wings. The neck is curly maple while the body’s back wood is swamp ash and top is an elegant quilted maple. Its sultry aesthetic is accented by an ebony fretboard inlaid with mother of pearl inlays. A mother of pearl Private Stock Eagle with a mother of pearl “January” engraved banner adorn the headstock.
PRS fitted the bass with a dual coil, splittable Bartolini pickup. “This pickup design, along with the center block/hollow wing construction, delivers an airy, deep tone with strong lows and plenty of top-end definition,” they write.
Other features include a Nickel Schaller Bridge, a Brass Nut, and an Electric Tiger Smoked Burst High Gloss Nitro Body finish with a Satin Neck Finish. Limited to six instruments, the bass comes in a Private Stock 20th Anniversary Black Comet tolex case.
