Uffe Lykke Kristensen

Meet Uffe Lykke Kristensen, who at age 11 saw a video by Victor Wooten, and the rest was history. Uffe spends his time playing and studying music in Denmark.

He’s this week’s No Treble reader in the spotlight. Here’s his story…

Bio:

I’m a 20 year old busy bass player based in Esbjerg, Denmark. Over the years, I’ve been playing in a lot of different bands – all from heavy metal to jazz.

Location:

Esbjerg, Denmark

Day gig:

I’m a student at the Danish National Academy of Music in Esbjerg.

Years experience:

About 8 years

Bands & Gigs:

I play in a original electropop/disco band called Oliver Blanc and a alternative rock band called Big Sky Country. I also play in a blues trio. Our setlist consists of everything from Freddie King to John Mayer.

Why I play the bass:

I saw a video on YouTube with Victor Wooten when I was about 11 years old and I was just so amazed by the sound of the bass and Victors groove. I wanted to do what that guy did!

My bass superpower/claim to fame:

I would definitely say my groove and my sound.

My influences:

Pino Palladino, Oteil Burbridge, James Jamerson, Duck Dunn, John Paul Jones, Joe Dart, Jaco Pastorius, Paul Jackson, Robert DeLeo, Willie Weeks, Charles Mingus and the Danish bass player Kristian Kold… just to mention a few.
