Bass of the Week: Bassart Guitars Phönix
The Bassart Guitars Phönix is a handmade bass from Braunschweig, Germany created by master luthier Matthias Meyer. This week we’re checking out a Phönix (German for Phoenix) in a dazzling blue sparkle finish.
It’s built with a curly maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and an alder body, although the model can also be built with a swamp ash or mahogany body. The bright blue motif is continued on the back of the neck as well as the fingerboard with blue sparkle block inlays. It even has blue LED fret markers on the side of the neck.
Meyer opts to fit the Phönix with a mighty Häussel Triplebucker matched to an active/passive Noll 2-band EQ. Check out this demo for a taste of what that sounds like:
