The Rolling Stones Release “Blue & Lonesome”
The Rolling Stones are back with their 25th studio album, entitled Blue & Lonesome. Produced by bassist and Blue Note Records president Don Was, the album is the iconic rock band’s first full-length album to feature only cover songs.
Blue & Lonesome is described as a tip of the hat to their early years as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf. “This album is a manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do,” said Don Was.
Holding down the low end is longtime bassist Darryl Jones, who has been with the band since 1993. Check out Jones and the boys in the studio during the making of the album:
Blue & Lonesome is available on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
