Reader Spotlight: Jono Burgess
We’ve featured a couple of videos by Jono Burgess and his duo, Bravo Victor. Now we get to learn more about him.
Jono is a third generation bassist in his family, so he said: “it was bound to happen eventually.” He’s this week’s reader in the spotlight. Here’s his story…
Bio:
I grew up in the small town of Maitland about thirty minutes west of Newcastle in a house full of music with everyone being musical in some capacity. Through high school, I dabbled with other instruments like piano and guitar but just before graduating I made the decision to really focus on bass. Straight out of school I went to study at Newcastle Conservatorium, it was through these studies my love for jazz and improvised music grew. Since graduating I have gone on to study at Sydney Conservatorium while focusing on my musical projects like my bass and voice duo Bravo Victor.

My days are filled being a full-time student, teaching, and practicing.

Ten years.

I work in many covers band around the area but have been focusing on my own original jazz project and my bass and voice duo Bravo Victor.
