Bass of the Week: Anka Custom Guitars Hathor Deluxe 5-String
This week we’re taking a looking at fiery bass called the Hathor Deluxe from Anka Custom Guitars and Basses. Built with an alder body, the model features a striking AAAAA Quilted Maple top and walnut veneer that will make you look twice.
The bass’s ovangkol neck is matched with a wenge fingerboard sans inlays. Anka fits the five-string with big Nordstrand pickups – a Bigman in the bridge position and a Big Single in the neck – as well as a Nordstrand three-band preamp. Controls include Blend, Tone, Bass, Mids, Treble, a push/pull volume for toggling active and passive operation, and mid-frequency selector switch. Finally, the Bigman pickup can be switched between humbucker and single coil operation.
