Kaveh Rastegar Releases Debut Album, Light of Love

Kaveh Rastegar Light of LoveKneebody bassist Kaveh Rastegar has released his debut album, Light of Love, and it’s stacked with talented musicians. That’s no wonder considering the Grammy-nominated bassist has also spent his last 20 years working with some incredible talent including John Legend, Beck, Sia, Sabrina Claudio, Bruno Mars, Meshell Ndegeocello, De La Soul, and many more.

“Rastegar refers to Light of Love as a ‘family album,’ bringing together a cast of longtime friends and collaborators to craft songs that unite jazz-club virtuosity with pop-chart soul,” a press release states. That cast includes Amy Kuney (aka AMES), Becca Stevens, Gaby Moreno, Dawn Richard, David Garza, Mike Viola, Chris Dave, Scott Seiver, Nicholas Payton, Brandon Coleman, Jeff Babko, Chris Bruce, and Josh Lopez.

“This album is a long time coming,” says Rastegar. “I wanted to make something that bridges the gaps between all the different musical worlds that I find myself in — music that feels really good and also uses all of these voices.”

Light of Love is built upon catchy bass lines that set the groundwork for its laid-back vibe. Rastegar also utilizes the double bass to create a symphonic intro to the track “Cuento Illogico”, featuring Gaby Moreno. The flow of songs, melodic hooks, and great bass work make this an album I suggest you don’t miss.
