Blues Traveler: Sweet Pain (Live)

We’ve been spinning Blues Traveler’s Travelers and Thieves on vinyl a lot lately, and so I started looking for videos from the band during that time.

Here’s a clip of the band performing at a Bridge School benefit concert in October 1997. This acoustic version of “Sweet Pain” is just pure magic, thanks in part to Bobby Sheehan’s terrific work on the acoustic bass guitar.

This was filmed less than two years before Sheehan’s untimely passing. John Popper chose this tune to perform live in a tribute to Sheehan in 1999.

  1. I love this band, and actually saw two shows on the Travelers and Theives era tour. Bobby was always great and was a big influence in my early life as a bassist.
When I spin the old BT discs, my wife always smiles and says “that is just what you sounded like in high school“.
Tad has done an admirable job keeping it going.
