Bass of the Week: Atelier Kraken Mammoth Bass

Atelier Kraken Mammoth Bass

This week we’re checking out the Mammoth bass from Atelier Kraken. “Tentacle-crafted” in France by luthier Guillaume “Muche” Buguet and Vincent Clerc, the stunning bass has aluminum inlays along its ash body including a detailed engraving of the Kraken that extends over the neck pickup with a tentacle continuing on the headstock inlay.

More than a showpiece, the bass is thoughtfully built for monster tones. Its maple and rosewood neck, which is topped with a rosewood fretboard, has a compound radius for playing comfort. The team fit the body with a Hipshot Kickass bridge and Ultralite tuners. Its electronics include a Nordstrand Audio NP4 in the neck position and their Big Spilt by the bridge.

What are the three switches for?

    • 2 switchs to turn on or off each pickup independently, and a switch to chain the 2 pickups in series or in parallel mode.

    • Clément Marc

One switch to turn on/off the bridge mic, one to turn on/off the neck mic, and the lastonla to switch the two mics to serie or parallel
