Bass of the Week: Owl Bass Guitars Alchemist 4/32

I love checking out all the basses people post on Instagram, but this one made me stop scrolling. This Alchemist 4/32 by Owl Bass Guitars first caught my eye with its killer claro walnut top. Luthier Chris Seldon selects and handcrafts all the wood for his instruments.
“I build my basses from raw lumber, 100% percent by hand the old fashioned way,” he writes on his new website. “No CNC, no CAD. It’s just me and some rulers, spinning blades and coffee.”
It’s also fitted with a pair of mean-looking Bassculture W-Buckers matched to an East UK ACGEQ-01 preamp. Seldon made this clip to explain the unique electronics and give a quick demo of the bass, which was built for a producer in Los Angeles.
Other features include a roasted maple and padauk neck, a rosewood fretboard, and Hipshot hardware.
