Bass of the Week: CP Thornton B-034 Bass
This week we’re checking out a cool four-string bass by CP Thornton Guitars. Luthier Chuck Thornton built this bass, numbered B-034, with a swamp ash core with killer slabs of 5A Eastern Maple for the top and back.
The body’s ergonomic contours include a carve built-in that acts as a ramp along most of the string’s length over the body. It evens up to the Nordstrand Big Split pickups, which are housed in rosewood covers and separated by another rosewood ramp.
Thornton utilized torrefied birdseye maple for the neck and fingerboard. Other features include an active/passive preamp and Hipshot hardware.
