Bass of the Week: Eye’s Bass Guitars EBG-3 “Jackson”

Eye's Bass Guitars EBG-3 Jackson Bass Controls

Based out of southern Germany, Eye’s Bass Guitars is a company run by builder Marc Locher who creates distinctive instruments. Each one is a unique piece that features “the highest in precision and detail” with an equally unique concept.

“All instruments are hybrid instruments made of aluminum and wood. They are built with an aluminum central part, and all body parts are made of the highest quality tonewoods by myself,” Locher explains. “Through the center block made of aluminum, the bass has a great and fast tone response, and through the wood, the bass has a classic and great feel.”

This week we’re checking out the EBG-3 “Jackson”, which is a special edition that features body wings locked in with 4mm thick ebony that gives it a black and white motif. It also has an interesting pickup option.

“This is equipped with an active splittable EMG in soapbar form,” he writes. “Under the pickup frame are also holes for a J-bass pickup available. Thus, at any time, the pickup can be replaced and provided with a different frame.”
