Gene Simmons Announces Bass Art Gallery Exhibit and Sale

Gene Simmons

KISS may be busy on their sprawling farewell tour for the foreseeable future, but Gene Simmons will be making time this year for an art exhibit. On October 12th, Simmons will unveil a collection of 20 of his own basses at the Animazing Gallery in the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is called “One Legend, One Collection, One Night.”

“Join Gene Simmons, The God of Thunder himself, as we debut an exclusive collection of 20 personally-owned iconic Gene Simmons one-of-a-kind hand-painted and sculptural Fine Art Bass Guitar Masterpieces,” the gallery writes. Each of the basses was commissioned to an artist to create a unique piece, and each will be for sale at the event.

The exhibit and sale are from 6 pm to 9 pm. VIP tickets are on sale now on a first-come basis and are limited – and not cheap. The Platinum ticket, which is limited to 20 reservations, goes for $2,500 and includes an hour-long closed-door cocktail reception with Simmons, a limited edition print, a signed photo, tickets to KISS mini-golf, as well other swag. The Gold Ticket is limited to 35 reservations and gets you a signed photo, a limited edition print, and other swag. It goes for $1,000.

Tickets and more info can be found on the Animazing Gallery website.

Gene Simmons knows how to milk the very last dime out of being a celebrity. Not many people could pull off an event like this-maybe Geddy but I don’t think it is his style to do something like this. I’m not a Kiss fan but I do admire how Simmons had a marketing plan for his band and worked hard to get a devoted following and perform for many years. Perhaps a lesson to be learned by bands now days who may be killer musicians yet lack the ability to promote themselves. Kiss did put in the work to succeed as well as did the marketing to make money.

Gene Simmons is a money grubbing hack. I could understand if any of this money was going to benefit a charity, but the fact that it seems to be solely for his plugs and hair dye expenses is just lame. I guess milking celebrity is seen as talent and virtue these days though. Way to give back to your fans guy.
