Bass of the Week: K. Butler Guitars Mod Shop Edition Bass
This week we’re checking out a Mod Shop Edition bass from K. Butler Guitars. The eye-catching bass has a basswood body finished in Sea Blu with a striking tiger stripe pickguard. Butler says the bass has a great sound, too.
“It may be just a little quirky in the visuals,” the company explains, “but these pickups sound like fabulousness and unbridled power wrapped in a tasty burrito….if that was a sound. I know you know you know what I’m talking about.”
Other features include a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, Hipshot tuners, and a Wilkinson bridge.

interesting pickup placement, looks cool though… “these pickups sound like fabulousness and unbridled power wrapped in a tasty burrito” Ha! I like the sense of humor.
Thanks for the nice comments Trey. The pickup placement does look a little different but in reality they are actually very similar to J-bass pickup placement. It’s deceptive because they are the same size as guitar humbuckers. I promise they freakin’ rock though! This bass is sold. I’m finishing up a white one to list on Reverb soon.
That blue bass w/ tiger stripes is so beautiful. If it plays and sounds half as good as it looks I’d pick over most exotic wood finish basses.
