Emeli Sandé Releases “Real Life” with Pino Palladino on Bass
British singer Emeli Sandé has returned with her third studio album, entitled Real Life. The record, which was three years in the making, is a message of hope to people who need it.
“Especially people who have been marginalized, forgotten or kicked down by this invisible oppression that’s always there,” the vocalist writes. “I just want to give people this incredible superpower every time they play the album. Like a battery pack – by the end of the album they’re going to feel restored.”
Sandé wrote all the lyrics on the album, which ranges from R&B to gospel to ballads. If you get really into those grooves, it may be thanks in part to session ace Pino Palladino laying down the bass lines. Check out his bass work on “Shine”:
The album also features several orchestrally rich tracks that include double bassists Patrick Laurence, Matthew Gibson, and Colin Paris.
