I’ve been spinning Khruangbin on vinyl a lot lately, which set me on a path to find more videos by the band. I found this one of the band performing on NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk Concert” in 2018. Laura Lee and the band didn’t disappoint.

Tal Wilkenfeld has returned with a new solo album called “Love Remains.” As opposed to her 2007 instrumental release, “Transformation,” her latest record focuses on her songwriting and marks her vocal debut.

Eastwood Guitars has rounded out their signature series of instruments with Warren Ellis by introducing the Warren Ellis bass guitar model. Ellis, who works with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, worked with the company to add low end to his arsenal.

In this lesson, Lorin Cohen illustrates how to use one minor pentatonic scale over five chord types. In this case, using the B minor pentatonic scale to play over a progression. This illustrates what Lorin calls a “vertical” approach to soloing, where we create lines that move swiftly up and across the fingerboard.

You Bred Raptors? has announced they will be hitting the road for a spring tour this April. The trio features KC Solaris on drums, Tara Hanish on cello, and bandleader Peat Rains on 8-string bass.

Arkham Sound has expanded its lineup of bass products with The Beast of Both Worlds, which is a Class D/Tube hybrid amplifier that delivers 1200 watts into 4 ohms. Its preamp section features a 12AX7 tube that they say offers “good tone and low microphonics.”

This week we’re checking out a bass from builder Adam Dolan of Dolan Custom Guitars. The UK-based luthier has been crafting his instruments for around three years, but his Proteus Legacy makes it look like he’s been at it for much longer.
