Udo Pannekeet Releases “Electric Regions”

Udo Pannekeet: Electric RegionsFocus bassist Udo Pannekeet has released a new solo album called Electric Regions. The 43-minute album is comprised of five original compositions including the epic 24-minute title track. If features fellow Focus members Menno Gootjes and Eef Albers.

“I’m so pleased to finally share this music with you! I worked on it for quite a while,” Pannekeet writes. “Thanks to the amazing musicians I worked with on the album, it has become more than I could have imagined. I’m humbled by the beautiful reactions I received so far from all over the world!”

Electric Regions blurs the lines between house, jazz, rock, and world music with the bandleader on fretless bass throughout. Though he’s grooving hard for most of it, his melodic style is on full display for the track “Little Nura.” Check out the Weather Report-esque “Cocon Cocon”:

Electric Regions is available now on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

Electric Regions Track List:

  1. Electric Regions Part One
