Eastwood Guitars Unveils the Hooky Bass 6 Pro
The Eastwood Guitars Custom Shop has unveiled a new bass with former Joy Division/New Order bassist, Peter Hook. The Hooky Bass 6 Pro is a replica of the six-string he used to record some of his biggest hits.
“In the summer of 2017, we were given unique access to one of Peter Hook’s original Shergold Marathon 6 Bass guitars, an instrument that has always been a core part of Hooky’s unique style/sound, and an integral part of the sound of Joy Division and New Order – it was the very one used to record ‘Blue Monday,'” Eastwood explains. “With this level of accessibility to a Hooky original Shergold, we were able to go into microscopic detail, and, pretty much, create a clone of it.”
A prototype of the bass was taken out on tour by Hook. Eastwood has introduced the bass on their pre-order funding platform. The 30-inch scale production model will feature an alder body, maple neck, and a bone nut. Eastwood says the model has a slightly wider string spacing than a typical Bass VII, making it more comfortable to standard bassists. It will also include a custom Bass VI bridge with compensated brass saddles, a dual coil humbucker, and a boost control switch.
The Eastwood Guitars Hooky Bass 6 Pro will come in red, black, or white. It is available for pre-order now with a final price of $1,299 and an expected delivery of May 2020.
