Alasdair McLachlan: Slap Bass Arrangement of “Ain’t Nobody”
It’s been a while since we’ve had a video from Alasdair McLachlan, but now he’s back with a killer slap arrangement of the classic Chaka Khan song “Ain’t Nobody.” Accompanied by drummer Chris Allan, the bassist handles the melody and bass line all at once.
McLachlan primarily uses slap, but watch for his slick use of strumming, harmonics, and tapping to fill the song out.
In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
I love Chaka Khan’s music ever since she was with Rufus, but I give this bass rendition a resounding NO!!! Chaka Kahn has dynamic vocal range from very high to low, this “slap” rendition is definitely lacking range, not even close.
