Motörhead Announces 40th Anniversary Edition of “Ace of Spades”

Motörhead: Ace of Spades 40th Anniversary Edition Box Set

Motörhead has been issuing anniversary editions of their albums, and now the time has come to revisit their seminal record, Ace of Spades. The highly influential album will be released in Special 40th Anniversary formats as well as a Deluxe Collector’s Box-Set that will include tons of goodies. Most excitingly, the releases will include a CD featuring a previously unheard concert from the “Ace Up Your Sleeve” tour. The trio’s lineup at the time featured Fast Eddie Clarke, Philthy Animal Taylor, and – of course – bass monster Lemmy Kilmister.

Watch this live version of “Ace of Spades” from the 1981 concert at Whitla Hall in Belfast:

“Upon its release in 1980, the ‘Ace Of Spades’ album was nothing short of a gamechanger for all forms of hard rock,” a press release states. “Like lightning in a bottle, it perfectly captured everything great about hard rock, heavy metal, and punk, amped it all up to 11, and came racing out of the gates at what felt like a million miles an hour, pushing at every musical boundary. Nothing was harder. Nothing was faster. And certainly nothing was louder.”

The 40th Anniversary editions of Ace Of Spades will come in hardback book-packs in two-Cd and three-LP formats, each of which will include the live concert. The Deluxe Box Set will include the album (half-speed mastered from the original master tapes), two double-live albums, a 10-inch EP of instrumental tracks, a double album of B-Sides and outtakes, a DVD compilation of rare appearances from the era, a 40-page book, a tour program, a comic book, a set of poker dice, and more.

Each of these versions will be released on October 30th. They are all available for pre-order through the Motörhead website.
