Bass of the Week: Erizias Basses SingleCut Custom 5

Erizias Basses SingleCut Custom 5 Bass

This week we’re checking out an incredible lefty bass by luthier Pierre Erizias, who shared this on the Erizias Basses Facebook page. The bass is a modded version of his singlecut design.

“These specs were specified by Chris Kew to accommodate his style of playing. He plays in a style reminiscent of a Jimmy Haslip (Lefty strung righty),” the builder explains. “[It also has] ultra-low action for easy playing and tapping.”

Erizias crafted the instrument with a basswood body and a 50-year-old piece of quilted maple. Its three-piece tapered core ash neck meets the body at a mahogany and walnut tone block. The Gaboon ebony fingerboard holds 24 frets marked with abalone inlays. Its Nordstrand Dual Coil pickups each have a switch to toggle the coil selector (front, both, back). It also has an on/off switch in addition to a Nordstrand 3-band EQ.
