Red Panda Updates the Bitmap Bitcrusher Pedal for 2021

Red Panda Bitamp 2 PedalRed Panda has updated their Bitmap pedal with version two for 2021. The bitcrusher features fractional bit reduction and sample rate modulation to create lo-fi sounds, and the updated edition adds several features.

“The Bitmap 2 adds waveshaping, wavefolding, and a window comparator for extreme digital distortion,” the company writes. “A drive control handles everything from single coil guitars to synthesizers, with +8 dBu maximum signal level and enough gain to sound like an overdriven mixer channel. Modulation and envelope control create dynamic, responsive distortion and digital artifacts.”

This new version is also tuned for more sustain without sputtering on staccato notes. Red Panda says its less extreme settings allow you to add layers that interact in subtle ways for warmth of 8 and 12-bit samplers.

The Bitmap 2 works on guitar, bass, synthesizers, and anything else at line level. Although it’s demoed on guitar, you can get the full scoop from Nick Reinhart:

The Red Panda Bitmap 2 is shipping now with a price point of $299.
