Gilad Ephrat: My Beloved Country

Following the popular video Gilad Ephrat sent us for “Mercy Street“, here’s another he just sent us.

“This beautiful Mongolian melody has been traveling with me for about a decade since I performed in Mongolia with Eyal Sela and Mark Eliyahu,” Gilad shared. “The show was part of 20 years of working relationship between the two embassies and a very special moment in the concert was our collaboration with a local ensemble. They sent us the notes of the piece that we performed together a few days before, so we could learn it but the notes had no harmony (chords), just a melody. As a bass player who really likes to play melodies on the bass, I felt it was worth adding harmony (bass role) to this beautiful melody and so I did. The local musicians loved it, and I felt like this tune was becoming a milestone in my musical journey.”
