Bass of the Week: Swan Guitars Swan Special

This Swan Special by Swan Guitars is a real treat for the eyes as well as the ears. The five-string model has a two-piece ash body topped with a beautifully complex flame maple top, which is also utilized on the pickup covers. Its three-piece maple neck is fitted with a dark Pau Ferro fingerboard, adding a darker contrast to accentuate the top’s figuring.
Swan fits the model with a pair of Lake Triple Agent pickup matched up with an Audere Pro Z preamp. That includes four knobs (volume, balance, stacked treble/bass, and stacked hi-mid/hi-bass) and three switches: one to select the mid frequencies and two for selecting the coils.
Hardware for the bass includes Hipshot Ultralite tuners and a gold-finished Hipshot A Style bridge.
