Original Descendents Lineup’s “9th & Walnut” Out Now

Descendents: 9th & WalnutIn 2002, the original quartet lineup of Descendents reunited to enter the studio and record their earliest material. After being shelved for nearly two decades, the tracks have been released as 9th & Walnut, an album named after their Long Beach practice space.

The recording features drummer Bill Stevenson, guitarist Frank Navetta (who passed in 2008), vocalist Milo Aukerman, and bassist Tony Lombardo. Each song was written between 1977 and 1980. This album also marks the lineup’s only releases besides 1981’s Fat EP and 1982’s Milo Goes to College.

Of course, Lombardo’s creative and melodic bass lines tie the songs together. Check out his work on “To Remember”:

The current Descendents lineup with Karl Alvarez on bass will be on tour with Rise Against and The Menzingers. 9th & Walnut is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
