Bass of the Week: Algan Guitars Custom Fretless Multiscale Bass

Algan Guitars Custom Fretless Multiscale Bass Twist

This week we’re checking out an incredible bass by Algan Guitars from Turkey. The company shared photos of their latest creation on Instagram, stating “the twisted infinite fingerboard meets multiscale fretless for the first time in the world!”

Algan crafted the instrument with a one-piece ash body, a one-piece roasted ash neck, and a one-piece padauk fingerboard. As they wrote, the fingerboard has a 14-degree twist while the neck itself has a 33” to 35” multi-scale and an asymmetric profile.

Electronics include a hidden reverse P-style magnetic pickup and a piezo bridge pickup that feed into a piezo/magnetic buffered preamp. Other features include a brass bridge, brass nut, and LED side dots.

Hear it in action in this sound sample cover of Victor Bailey’s “Low Blow”:

Nice…thats what I call neck thru! Where are the pickups?

  2. Steve

That’s pretty impressive. Love the hidden pickups. I don’t play a multi scale but they sure seem to be popular. Not just Dingwall making them any more.

  3. Absolutely fantastic! it would be really interesting to test this bass. Had a same idea of endless finger board with my luthier. We ended to have a regular one but there are some secrets still to be announced later :D
