Bass of the Week: Stoll Guitars The Legendary Acoustic Bass

Stoll Guitars The Legendary Acoustic Bass Sitting

This week we’re checking out The Legendary Acoustic Bass by Stoll Guitars, which they say offers the sound of a double bass in a bass guitar format. That big sound comes in part from a big body.

“With a body width of 530 mm, a depth of 142 mm (at the widest point), and a scale length of 864 mm, the Legendary Acoustic Bass stands out clearly from its competitors,” Stoll writes. “Anyone considering the laws of acoustics must come to the same conclusions as we did: Only a large sound box is able to effect a sonorous and vibrant sound. Consequently, the Legendary Acoustic Bass can stand its ground unplugged in an acoustic ensemble.”

Although it has a large body, the company adds that people of smaller stature can still play it with proper posture. Stoll crafts The Legendary bass with back and sides of maple with a Sitka Spruce top. Its Spanish Cedar neck counters the large body with a slim profile. Other features include an ebony fingerboard, Schaller tuners, and a bone bridge. Stoll offers it in four, five, and six-string configurations.
