Katie Thiroux Releases “Christmas For One”
Just in time for the holidays, Katie Thiroux has released a new four-song EP called Christmas For One. The aptly-titled album is a solo effort to showcase her magnificent bass and vocal work on classic holiday songs.
Her song choices include “There’s Always Tomorrow” from the claymation film “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, a Ray Brown-inspired take on “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”, and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.
“In my mind, I was going for simplicity, clarity, heart, and the bass spirit of Charlie Haden!” She says. “Melody, some bass solo and vocal improvising at the end with some authentic voice cracks…that’s MY instrument.”
Check out her arrangement, which kicks off with gorgeous arco work:
Thiroux’s Christmas For One is available now on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Spotify.
