Christian McBride’s “The Q Sessions” EP Now On All Platforms
Last year, Christian McBride teamed up with the hi-res streaming service Qobuz to release The Q Sessions. Now, the EP has been released to all digital platforms to be more widely available.
“McBride visited NYC’s Power Station last year to record three start-to-finish Hi-Res songs commissioned by Qobuz,” the company explains. The project was created with top-notch equipment at 24-bit/192kHz quality, and the final product streams and downloads with the exact same sound, tones, and touches in which it was first recorded.”
McBride was joined by saxophonist Marcus Strickland, drummer Eric Harland, and guitarist Mike Stern for the three songs, which include a blues improv, a jazz standard, and a freshly written tune. “Brouhaha” was written in the spirit of the bassist’s longtime musical companion, Chick Corea, who had passed just before the session took place.
