Flabba Holt: Behind My Greatest Bass Lines

As one of the most prolific bassists in reggae, Flabba Holt, has created some incredibly hypnotic bass lines. That’s how I got stuck on this video, which is equally hypnotic.

Holt sat down with I Never Knew TV to give the background to some of the big hits he played and produced: “Big Ship” by Freddie McGregor, “Front Door” by Gregory Isaacs, “Gun Man” by Michael Prophet, and more.

Holt’s passion and excitement for the music is clear, although his dialect is not. The video also gives a close-up view of how he plays, so grab your bass to get your groove on.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
