ChimyTina Returns With “Constellations”

ChimyTina: ConstellationsVocalist Martina DaSilva and bassist Dan “Chimy” Chmielinski have teamed up again for a second album with their duo project, ChimyTina. Constellations is the group’s second full-length album and features special guests vibraphonist Joel Ross, trumpeter Marquis Hill, saxophonist Grace Kelly, guitarist Andrew Renfroe, saxophonist Lucas Pino, and cellist Ken Kubota.

The record was cut in April 2021, just a year into the pandemic. “A good word for this album is trust,” Chmielinski says of the record. “We’re trusting that the world will return, that we’ll be able to do what we love again. It was a very visceral, raw reaction to what was happening to us.”

Constellations expands on their sound with a wide palette of songs, from Brazilian Bossa Nova to a country ballad by Hank Williams. DaSilva also penned two originals: “Twin Flame” and “My Universe”.

Check out the duo’s intimate take on “Smile,” with Marquis Hill adding perfect trumpet accompaniment.

Constellations is available now on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon MP3.
