Casiopea: Mid-Manhattan (Live)

One of my favorite bands since my teen years is the jazz-fusion band Casiopea. When I first heard the track “Mid-Manhattan,” I was instantly hooked.

Tetsuo Sakurai is the bassist for the group and an absolute legend and an absolute monster on 4, 5, or 6-string bass.

Check out this clip from a 2022 live show at Blues Alley in Japan!

Joshua Sailor is a session bassist, producer and engineer on the West Coast. Currently working with Cloud Microphones on the "Get Lifted" Web Series, showcasing how to use Cloudlifters in studio, live and podcasting situations. You can contact him at [email protected].

  1. Johnny Mitchell

Hello, my name is Johnny Mitchell, I’ve been playing bass for several years. I sincerely loved this instrument. I’ve been playing since I was 16 years old. At age 20 I joined the Air Force. At the time, I brought my bass with me. I had the best bass I ever had. I bought an Ibanez Rickenbacker replica at 16.
While in the Air Force and as several years progressed I received orders to Kadena Air Base on Okinawa, Japan. It was a wonderful assignment. From Basic training, to technical school, I was trained to be an aircraft electrician. To make a long story short, in my off duty time I frequently visited the Air Forces’ base exchange (BX). The stereo portion of the BX constantly displayed the unbelievable sound systems on that side of the Pacific. The sound system that was displayed played one of the baddest fusion groups I’ve ever encountered. Now, I’ve been a jazz enthusiasts for years, but, I’ve never heard or seen a band like CASIOPEA. The group consists of four of baddest dudes that brought happiness to my ears. I saw them in the early 80’s. And have many of their tunes. Please check them out ? America is not savvy to them. The greatest Japanese musicians out there.
I am 63, and from Brooklyn, New York.
    I know music.
    Thanks ??
