Motörhead Announces “Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2007”

Motörhead: Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2007More material from the Motörhead archives is about to see the light of day. The legendary rock band’s performance at the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival will be released as an album on double LP, double CD, and digital formats.

“Motörhead loved playing live and never ever judged their audiences. Everyone was encouraged, all were welcome,” a press release explains. “And that included people who like jazz! So when the Montreux Festival called requesting them, it made perfect sense in its own, unique way. ‘Tis worth noting, too, that the Festival has always been about stepping beyond the boundaries of that ‘J’ word, and embracing unique artists of all genres, styles and sensibilities, the only true consistent requirement being that they represent the best and most adventurous of their ilks.”

The concert was amid the band’s “Kiss of Death” tour and features the lineup of Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell, and Mikkey Dee. They tear through the band’s big hits like “Stay Clean,” “Ace of Spades,” and “Overkill,” but the occasion also included a special cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Rosalie.” The new box set marks the first official release of the cover, and the band has highlighted that by providing a live video for it. Check out Lemmy doing it like only he could.

Motörhead’s Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2007 will be released on June 16th on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
