Steve Smith and Vital Information’s “Time Flies” Out Now
As we reported last month, drummer Steve Smith is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Vital Information with a new lineup, new album, and a tour. Now the record, Time Flies, is out now.
The new trio features Smith with keyboardist Manuel and bassist Janek Gwizdala. Together they create slick grooves on originals and jazz standards with guests George Garzone and Mike Mainieri sitting in.

Gwizdala delivers perfect grooves, walking bass lines, and inspired solos throughout. He also provided the composition for the final song on the album, “Erdnase”, which first appeared on his 2013 solo album, Theatre By The Sea.
Time Flies is available now on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3). Steve Smith and Vital Information will be embarking on an East Coast tour in June.
