Sushi Box Unveils the Venus X Preamp Pedal

Sushi Box Effects has released the Venus X, a tube preamp they developed with input from bassist Tony Puleo to allow him to consistently get his tone no matter the playing situation. The pedal has two channels – clean and boost – that share a four-band EQ.
“The clean channel is exactly what you expect, clean, and the boost channel can get you over the top when you want more grind on your tone,” the company writes.
The Venus X is fitted with a DI featuring a Lightning Boy Audio transformer and two 1/4-inch outputs. One is the preamp output that can be sent to a power amp or powered monitor, while the dry pass-through lets you send your signal to a full amplifier. Another great feature is its switchable cabinet simulator, allowing you to “get the tone of a full rig even when you’re running ampless straight to the front of house console or a recording interface.”
