Royal Blood Releases “Back to the Water Below”

Royal Blood: Back to the Water BelowBass and drum duo Royal Blood have just dropped their fourth album, Back to the Water Below. The rock revivalists hunkered down in their home studio in Brighton, where they opted to produce the record themselves to give themselves the freedom to explore their musical inclinations.

“I think this record was about letting the ideas take us where they needed to go, and off the back of ‘Typhoons,’ we felt permission to go to those places with more confidence and knowledge of how to execute them,” says bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr. “If there was a song that was calling us to do something that wasn’t typically what we’re known for, we felt more like that’s where we were going to go. The songs are in charge and if that means having a record that is quite varied, that’s what we were going to go for. As a result, we’ve made a rollercoaster of a record.”

Kerr, who recently launched a signature bass with Fender, still delivers his enormous wall of sound via his extensive pedal and amp setup. Hear his massive tone in the song “Shiner in the Dark”:

Back to the Water Below is available now on CD, vinyl, and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3). The band will be on tour in the U.S. to support the record. See below for their itinerary.
