Mike Watt and mssv Release Sophomore Record, “Human Reaction”
Main Steam Stop Valve, aka mssv, has returned with a new album called Human Reaction. The trio of Mike Baggetta, Stephen Hodges, and punk bass icon Mike Watt explore a “noir-tinged” sonic atmosphere with more vocals than their previous record.
mssv recorded the album last year on May Day, following an intense tour cycle of 48 shows in 48 days. The band is already in the midst of another tour that will take them across the U.S. and back over the next two months.
Baggetta wrote the music specifically for this trio, and it’s clear he took advantage of Watt’s burly tone and unique phrasing. Check out the quirky, lilting “Baby Ghost (from the 1900s)” featuring the largest kick drum you’ve ever seen.
Human Reaction is available now digitally through Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon MP3, and more.
